The Real Reason Diets Don't Work

The Real Reason Diets Don't Work

A client told me recently, "I hope this is the one. I've tried everything else."

She was talking about a new high-protein plan. And I've heard some version of that sentence more times than I can count — keto, low-carb, macros, whatever the current program happens to be. There's always this quiet hope attached to it: maybe this is finally the thing that works.

Here's what stands out to me every single time. It's never about the diet.

If you're someone who keeps searching outside yourself for the right diet, the right protocol, the perfect plan — you're probably always going to be searching. Not because you haven't found the right one yet. Because the thing you're actually looking for isn't a plan at all.

Why You Keep Getting Stuck At the Same Weight (And What To Do About It)

Why You Keep Getting Stuck At the Same Weight (And What To Do About It)

One of my coaching clients recently said something to me about her journey and I thought the subject of the conversation was worth sharing. I’ve changed some of the information to protect the client but the concepts remain the same.

"I always get to this certain weight... and then I just can't seem to get past it. I always get stuck here, and I really don't want to end up stuck again."

As soon as she said it, something really stood out to me. Not because I didn’t believe her. I absolutely believe her. It had more to do with the way she is thinking than anything else…

Constipation on a GLP-1? Here's Why It Happens (and What You Can Do About It)

One of the questions I hear all the time from coaching clients taking GLP-1 medications is:

"Is it normal to feel constipated?"

Or sometimes they'll say,

"I just don't feel...normal anymore."

I’m writing this blog post because I know that, for some people, it can also be a little bit hard to talk about. It might feel a little bit embarrassing to ask. I figured I could create a safe reference point through a blog post so you can get some of your questions answered.

Why Your Smallest Habit Might Be Your Most Powerful

Why Your Smallest Habit Might Be Your Most Powerful

One of my coaching clients said something to me recently that completely stopped me. She gave me a brief account of her week and at the end of her message, she said,

"I know this might sound small, but putting on my Fitbit every morning and stepping on the scale really helps keep me on track."

At first, it might not sound like a big deal. After all, it's just a Fitbit. It’s just a number on a scale, right? Just another morning routine.

But what stood out to me was this... It had absolutely nothing to do with the Fitbit or stepping on the scale. It had everything to do with the discovery of a small habit that has become a game changer.

25 Realistic Weight Loss Habits That Actually Support Wellness

25 Realistic Weight Loss Habits That Actually Support Wellness

Healthy weight loss isn’t built through perfection, restriction, or completely overhauling your life overnight.

In reality, sustainable progress usually comes from small habits practiced consistently over time — nourishing meals, movement, hydration, sleep, stress management, and supportive routines that fit into real life.

If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by extreme diets or all-or-nothing wellness plans, you’re not alone. Many people think they need to “start over” perfectly to see results, when often the most effective approach is much simpler: build supportive habits one step at a time.

And afterward, it’s usually not even satisfying. It was just that automatic action that happens from time to time (or maybe regularly).

11 Mindset Shifts That Make Weight Loss Easier

11 Mindset Shifts That Make Weight Loss Easier

We’re so conditioned to believe certain things about weight loss. The primary focus is calories in versus calories out combined with an approach that encompasses eating less and exercising more. The truth is that there’s more to it than that.

Weight loss isn’t just about what you eat or how often you exercise.

Those things matter, of course. But they’re only part of the equation.

The way you think about weight loss, the identity you hold about yourself, and the story you tell about what’s possible for you all influence the choices you make every day.

No More Dieting (do this instead)

No More Dieting (do this instead)

Dieting is exhausting.

When most people think about dieting, they think about restriction. Rules. Good foods and bad foods. Starting over on Monday. And the truth is that all of those things have kept us stuck and in the grips of diet culture for way too long. One thing I say to our health coaching and retreat guests all the time is that restriction doesn’t equal health.
