10 Simple Paleo Snacks

10 Simple Paleo Snacks

Paleo eating, in general, is pretty simple. It’s not that complicated to implement and is really a diet rich in whole foods. Eating paleo eliminates all processed foods, dairy, legumes and grains. There are a few other nuances to eating paleo but that’s for a whole different post. I’m assuming if you’re here reading this blog post, you probably already know how to eat paleo and you’re looking for solutions for snacks. Which is exactly why I’m writing this post!

While I’m not necessarily a paleo eater all of the time, I do adopt a whole food way of eating and many of the meals and snacks that I eat are considered paleo. Snacks aren’t always the easiest thing to grab – especially if you’ve gone paleo. It seems like most of the snacks out there are full of junk, loaded with carbs or laden with sugar. Everywhere you turn there’s a cookie or cracker but quality sources of protein, fat and good carbs are fairly hard to come by. I’ve searched high and low and been able to find some great paleo snacks that you don’t even have to make. They can be taken or toted anywhere with you – even on the go!

3 Easy Low Carb Egg Muffins

3 Easy Low Carb Egg Muffins

I love easy breakfasts. If you’re like me, breakfast time is busy. I’m getting ready for work, feeding animals, answering any last minute emails and trying to get out the door to go to work. Needless to say, the easier I can make my morning routine, the better. When I meal prep and am prepared, everything seems to run a little smoother.

I also like to start my day off with protein, fat and some veggies. It seems to help me balance out my blood sugar levels a little better and I’m starting the day off with some good nutrition rather than a bunch of carbs or a sugary treat (although many times that’s what I want!). These are low carb, gluten free and grain free making them friendly to a lot of “diets” out there today.

Top 5 Healthy Cooking Gadgets

Top 5 Healthy Cooking Gadgets

I love to get in the kitchen and cook. There’s nothing like a homemade meal for me. For me, it’s kind of therapeutic but I also love creating. Naturally, creating healthy food is actually fun for me. I didn’t start out as a very good cook in the kitchen though. I fumbled around for years. Healthy cooking was hard for me and my dishes never turned out like the pictures of the recipes I was trying to replicate. Pineapple Jalapeno Detox Smoothie

Pineapple Jalapeno Detox Smoothie

I love smoothies for many reasons. They can provide so many nutritional benefits in one glass. They can pack vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, phytonutrients, macronutrients and more into one meal or snack. They’re easy to take on the go if you’re in a rush or you can enjoy them at home. You can make them a complete meal with protein, carbohydrates and fat or you can stick to more of a fruit/veggie smoothie.

Smoothies are often packed with nutrients which help fill nutritional voids and detox your body of anti-nutrients. I love this pineapple and jalapeño green smoothie (or any green smoothie for that matter) when I need to fill my body with nutrients, benefit from it’s energy producing effects and rid my body of impurities. Plus, as a benefit, jalapeño can be a major fat burning influence.
