Vita Boot Camp or Private Fitness Retreat?
/How To Choose Which Retreat Is Right For You
If you’re reading this blog post, you’re most likely thinking about a visit to Vita Vie Retreat for one of our wellness getaways. First of all, thank you for considering us! I know it’s a big decision and you want to make sure you end up at the right retreat for you. One of the biggest questions that we get when people call or email to inquire about our programs is: “Should I do the Vita Boot Camp or a Private Fitness Retreat?” They’re both fantastic programs (but you knew I’d say that because I’m writing this blog post). They’re very different though and truthfully, there’s a reason that they are different - to be able to serve people and their needs.
It’s not as simple as saying “you would be a great fit for Vita Boot Camp” to a potential client when they call. It’s really important that they get their needs met when they come to a retreat so I usually pose a series of questions which makes it easier to figure out which program is right for you. I’ve listed that series of questions below so you can review and make an educated decision between Vita Boot Camp and a Private Fitness Retreat.
DECISION MAKING FACTORS
Do you want to be in a group setting or a private setting? Vita Boot Camp is a group fitness retreat. We take up to 10 people at a time in that program each week. So if a group is your thing then boot camp would be a definite consideration. Some people don’t like the group atmosphere though. They prefer to work one on one, get personalized guidance and attention and be in a private setting without anyone else (other than the trainer or practitioner there). If that’s the case, then a private retreat is for you.
Do you have specific goals that you want to achieve? Often times when people have very specific goals that they want to work on, I suggest a private retreat over the boot camp. The reason is because the boot camp is a formatted program - meaning everyone goes to the same classes that are scheduled each day. We don’t deviate from the schedule and we don’t customize it. Vita Boot Camp is a blend of cardio, strength, core, balance, mind body and flexibility. Our private retreats are fully customized for you and your goals. So for example, let’s say you’re interested in weight loss or a sport specific goal like gaining power and distance in the golf swing, we can customize the retreat sessions for your goals.
That being said, the Vita Boot Camp schedule is a well rounded program that incorporates a little bit of everting — intense workouts to burn calories and ignite weight loss, mind body classes to refresh the mind and core + balance to refine the mind body connection and promote better balance, coordination and proprioception.
What is your current fitness level? Vita Boot Camp is great for advanced beginner exercisers and up. What I mean by that is if you’ve never worked out before, I generally recommend a private retreat. The reason is because Vita Boot Camp, while we do have a range of fitness levels each week, incorporates a lot of beach time for workouts as well as a full 5 hours of activity a day. For those that aren’t working out at all currently or have never worked out, the program might be too much physically and mentally. We want you to have a good experience and one that motivates an inspires you to continue. If you are advanced beginner or up then Vita Boot Camp is a great option for you. If you have never worked out before or haven’t done any physical activity in the last year, then I would suggest the private fitness retreat. It’s a better environment to get the guidance, instruction and motivation you need.
Do you have any physical or health related restrictions? We see people all of the time who have minor joint issues, joint tenderness and inflammation, tendonitis, plantar fasciitis and more. It’s easy for use to offer modifications and guidance in either program for these types of problems. That being said, if you have major joint issues that cause chronic inflammation and pain, a private retreat would be the better option for you. We can help you address some of the issues and imbalances surrounding the joints to get you on the right path to recovery. In addition, if you have any major health issues or joint problems, you must be cleared by a doctor to exercise and participate in our program. Major health issues would also require a private retreat so that we can closely monitor you and any potential problems that may arise.
Do you have time preferences, session preferences or need to work around a work schedule? If you answered yes to any of these, then you may want to consider the private retreat. We have so much more flexibility in terms of your schedule and session preferences. We do everything to work around your schedule and make sure that we can provide your sessions at times that work for you and your private time. If you don’t need specific times for classes and look forward to a diverse schedule then go for the boot camp!
Do you want a customized program to take home with you? With the private retreats, we send you home with a full program to implement once you return to your normal daily life. If you’re looking for a program that sets you up completely for the future, then I would recommend a private retreat. Don’t get me wrong, Vita Boot Camp is a fantastic program and motivates and inspires you to get active at home too. Many of the workouts can be translated to at home use but you don’t walk away with a complete personalized plan like you do with the private option (add on a personal training session or health coaching session to Vita Boot Camp to personalize your retreat).
