High-Protein Nice Cream with a Magic Chocolate Shell
/If you've ever loved the crackly chocolate shell on an ice cream cone, you're going to love this healthier version.
This High-Protein Nice Cream combines creamy Greek yogurt, protein powder, and nut butter into a fluffy frozen dessert that's topped with a thin layer of melted dark chocolate. After just a few minutes in the refrigerator or freezer, the chocolate hardens into that classic "magic shell" that cracks with every spoonful.
It's a fun way to enjoy a high-protein snack or dessert while still leaving plenty of room to customize it with your favorite flavors and toppings.

Ingredients
1 cup plain Greek yogurt
1/4 cup chocolate protein powder
1 tbsp cashew butter
1/3 cup dark chocolate chips
Directions
In a medium mixing bowl, combine the Greek yogurt, chocolate protein powder, and cashew butter. Use a hand mixer or whisk to blend until smooth, light, and fluffy.
Divide the yogurt mixture evenly between two serving bowls or small dessert dishes.
Melt the dark chocolate chips using a double boiler or microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
Spoon the melted chocolate over each yogurt bowl, spreading it into a thin, even layer with the back of a spoon.
Refrigerate for 10–15 minutes, or until the chocolate hardens into a crisp shell. For an even firmer texture, place the bowls in the freezer for 10–15 minutes.
Crack through the chocolate shell with a spoon and enjoy!
Storage
Store covered in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. If frozen, let the nice cream sit at room temperature for 5–10 minutes before enjoying for the best texture.
Recipe Tips
This recipe was developed using whey protein powder. Plant-based protein powders may produce a slightly different texture.
For a true frozen yogurt texture, place the yogurt mixture in the freezer for 20–30 minutes before pouring on the chocolate shell. It will become thicker and more scoopable while still remaining creamy. Then add the chocolate shell and chill for another 10–15 minutes until the chocolate sets.
The chocolate shell works best when spread into a thin layer, making it easy to crack with each bite.
Add your favorite toppings just before serving to keep them fresh and crunchy.
