Our Favorite All Natural Skin & Body Care Products

Best All Natural Body & Skin Products

All natural skin and body care is by far one of the biggest discussions I have with our fitness retreat clients. Many people are interested in all natural skincare but they don’t know where to start. There are so many brands out there now and it’s hard to know which ones actually produce results and are legitimately chemical free.

I switched all of my skin, body and hair care over to all natural, SLS free, paraben free, phthalate free and chemical free products about 7 years ago. I try to choose products that have ingredients that I recognize (coconut oil, jojoba oil, lavender essential oil, etc) over a list of things I don’t know how to pronounce. Obviously, there are always a few here and there that I’ve never seen or heard of. I began my quest for natural health in general about 10 years ago when I started venturing into organic foods and chemical free cleaning products. Needless to say, it grew from there and for the most part, my life and the products I put on my body, in my body and in my home are free of harsh ingredients. I do the best I can where I can. So I may find a product that’s plant based and very functional but maybe it has an ingredient or two that are questionable — that’s ok. It’s not about perfect for me. It’s about being healthy and natural as much as I can be.

That being said, I’m sharing my favorite products with you from toothpaste and floss to shampoo and conditioner. Hope this helps give you some ideas for your new, natural body care regimen. I’m also providing Amazon links in case you want to check out the products further.

For The Face

There are so many great all natural skincare lines out there. They used to be hard to find, or I should say, there were plenty of all natural brands but the products weren’t great. The good news is that in 2019, formulations have advanced and there are a ton of all natural skin care lines with products that really work. Below are my go to’s for healthy skin.

Mychelle Fruit Enzyme Cleanser - I absolutely love this cleanser. It’s one of my favorites that I’ve ever used, in fact. It’s light and slightly fruity smelling (mixed with a fresh, clean scent). According to Mychelle, the product is a gentle deep cleanser to help remove dull, dead skin cells and promote healthy-looking skin. More about the product from Mychelle: MyChelle Fruit Enzyme Cleanser gently deep cleans to uncover remarkably fresh, smooth skin. A special blend of natural multi-fruit Alpha-Hydroxy Acids (AHAs) unclog and purify pores for a radiant complexion. Fruit Enzyme Cleanser

Mychelle Refining Sugar Cleanser - This is for daily use and is has a really nice scent. It is more exfoliating than the fruit enzyme cleanser listed above. According to Mychelle, MyChelle Refining Sugar Cleanser is formulated with natural dissolving cane sugar to effectively clean and even remove makeup. This multi-tasking formula gently exfoliates surface impurities as it transforms into a creamy, foaming lather to leave skin smoother, softer, and hydrated. Boosted with age-defying Peptides and Crocus Chrysanthus Extract to help improve skin texture. I usually alternate ordering between these cleansers because I love them both. Out of the two, this leaves my skin a little softer. Refining Sugar Cleanser

Acure Organics Argan Oil: It’s simple, clean and super easy to use as a moisturizer. There are no other ingredients other than organic argan oil - doesn’t get more chemical free than that! I use this mixed with a few drops of frankincense oil as a moisturizing brightener. You could omit the frankincense though if you don’t need brightening or don’t like the scent of frankincense. This is a great, light way to hydrate the face after a quick rinse in the morning. It’s fairly light and doesn’t leave my skin super oily. Acure Organics Argan Oil

Acure Organics Skin Brightening Scrub: This fascial scrub is a good, deep exfoliating scrub. You will definitely slough off all of the dead skin and dirt. My skin always feels super soft after using this scrub. I use it about twice per week and love it. Acure product details: 'Seas' the day with natural exfoliation from the ocean. Sea kelp super-nutrients soften and detoxify, while lemon peel and French green clay cleanse without stripping away natural moisture. Check it out: Brightening Facial Scrub

Farmacy Dew It All Eyecream: Believe it or not, I was introduced to this eye cream from the FabFitFun box. Honestly, I may never have been introduced to this product if it wasn’t for that product box. I love this light eye cream though. It’s a super light scent (almost non existent) and definitely hydrates and nourishes that super delicate skin under the eye. Farmacy Dew It All Eye Cream

Mychelle Deep Repair Cream: Clearly, I like Mychelle Products! I do and they’re EWG verified (more on the EWG below). This deep repair cream is just that — it’s ultra hydrating and a little heavier. I literally feel like my skin just had a facial after a night with this cream on my face. I love it and it’s always part of my evening routine. Mychelle Deep repair Cream

Dental Care

Dental care is super important so using natural options is an obvious choice for me. My two daily products for dental care are:

Jason Powerful Peppermint Toothpaste: This is a really nice fresh taste but it’s not overwhelming. It’s a whitening gel at the same time but doesn’t make my teeth sensitive at all. This Jason toothpaste is free of Sodium lauryl/laureth sulfates, fluoride, preservatives, artificial colors, sweeteners, saccharin, propylene glycol, gluten. Jason Powerful Peppermint

Tom’s Anti Plaque Spearmint Floss: It actually took me a little bit to get used to this floss. It’s a little thicker than your normal floss which makes it a little harder to maneuver. On the flip side, once you’re used to it, you can really feel how it removes all of the debris in between teeth. I’ve come to love it and the regular floss now feels like it doesn’t do anything for me. Tom’s floss has no synthetic waxes, artificial sweeteners or preservatives, no artificial color or flavor, and no animal ingredients. Not tested on animals. Tom’s Anti Plaque Floss

For The Body

My body care routine is pretty standard and I don’t deviate much. My all natural picks for body care are:

EO Grapefruit + Mint Shower Gel: I love this stuff! It’s refreshing, light and cleanses gently. I always feel squeaky clean but my skin doesn’t get dried out. If you’re not familiar with EO, they’re an all natural body care company and EO stands for essential oil. All of their scents are naturally derived from essential oils and most products don't contain any harsh chemicals. They are gmo free, cruelty free and have no parabens or synthetic fragrances. Grapefruit & Mint Shower Gel

Kiss My Face Anti Stress Shower Gel: I love the smell of this! It has some pine and ginseng in it but is very mild. It’s a great way to take the edge off while taking a shower. Naturally plant based is it pH balanced and never tested on animals. From Kiss My Face: No phthalates No artificial fragrances No animal testing Free Of SLS, parabens, phthalates, artificial fragrances. Anti Stress Shower Gel

EO Coconut and Vanilla Body Lotion: Light and lovely, this body lotion isn’t heavy yet moisturizing my skin enough. I’ve been using this body lotion for years and I rarely even change the scent. Made with chemical free ingredients, organic ingredients and scented with essential oils. Coconut and Vanilla Body Lotion

Organic Coconut Oil: I also use extra virgin organic coconut oil as a moisturizer for my face and body. Coconut oil makes my skin so smooth. It’s like a gentle exfoliant at the same time. The only issue is that it can leave you slightly greasy so I don’t use it all of the time but I like to alternate it in. I love to mix a few tablespoons with a few drops of lemon and lavender essential oils to give it a light fresh scent. You can grab organic coconut oil at any grocery store (Trader Joe’s has extra virgin organic coconut oil for approx $6 — a steal). I did link the lemon and lavender essential oils to my favorite brand - Rocky Mountain Oils.

EO Lavender Deodorant: Here’s the deal. This is by far, the best all natural deodorant I’ve every used! That being said, everyone is different but this works for me almost as well as a regular deodorant — except without the chemicals or antiperspirant effect. I feel like every woman who comes through our fitness retreat asks about natural deodorant. I’ve honestly tried so many brands I can’t even count how many. The surprising this is that there are only two ingredients in this: organic alcohol, organic lavender essential oil. Plus, it’s a spray on which means no messy white creams. I rarely have to reapply but if I do, the spray is super easy. If you’re looking for an all natural deodorant, try this! EO Lavender Deodorant

Lavanila Sport Deodorant: UPDATE! I love this deodorant for non sport activities. Here’s what I mean… I love the scent of this deodorant. While it does not really work for me for activities (working out, etc), I do love it for once I’m showered and done with sports for the day. I do still use the EO deodorant spray for working out (nothing beats it) but this Lavanila Sport smells great and keeps me dry for afternoons of meetings and dinners out.

Hair Care

Here’s the thing… I have really easy hair to deal with so I only use a few products for hair care. My hair is long, straight and pretty fine so there’s not much to mess with. If your hair is thicker, curly or you have special needs for it, you might need to experiment further.

Giovanni Golden Wheat Shampoo: This is light, smells great and leaves my hair clean without stripping it of it’s natural oils and shine. I actually just discovered this shampoo after years of trying different brands. For me, this is nice and light and gets the job done. It probably isn’t for those that need ultra hydrating or color care though. It’s certified organic, does not contain parabens and is not tested on animals. Giovanni Golden Wheat Shampoo

Acure Coconut and Marula Conditioner: Apparently like two things — Acure Organics and coconut. I have quite a few coconut scented products on this list. That being said, I’ve tried a number of Acure’s conditioners (and shampoos) and I love most of their scents. This conditioner isn’t too heavy for my hair but leaves it nice and smooth and shiny. Acure Coconut and Marula Conditioner

Aveda Brilliant Emollient Finishing Gloss: This is light and gives my hair just enough “product” for styling yet leaves it super soft and shiny. This is comparable to Moroccan Oil (in my opinion). Aveda offers plant based products that are mostly chemical free. It may not be quite as clean as some of my other products but I do the best I can when and where I can. Aveda Brilliant Emollient Finishing Gloss

Wrapping It Up

Like I said above, there are a ton of all natural products out there — for every part of the body. These just happen to be my favorites and become my go to’s over the years. I’ll keep updating this post as I find other products that I can’t live without. My advice is try different products and find out what works for you and your body.

The EWG - EWG stands for environmental working group. They certify natural safe products and provide a resource to check and cross reference all natural options. You can find chemical free products from home cleaners to skin care and sunscreen. Each product has information on it’s ingredients and what could be potentially harmful for you, your family members and pets. EWG
